Karlie the cow sets world record

Karlie, a Jersey cow that sold for a world-record $170,000 at an auction on Onondaga Hill, is led around the auction ring by Gene Henderson. Karlie was owned by Aaron and Caitlin Eaton, of Onondaga Hill, and two others: Piggot Farms Show Cattle and Martin Croft. Karlie was purchased by a Connecticut farm.

Karlie, a 3-year-old whose full name is Page-Crest Excitation Karlie, was brought to fame on the show cow circuit by Aaron Eaton, a cow scout of sorts, Rohe said. Eaton is married to Rohe's sister, Caitlin, of Onondaga Hill.

According to the American Jersey Cattle Association's Jersey Journal, the previous record-high price for a Jersey cow sold at auction was the $92,000 paid for a cow raised in Dutchess County.
