He’s the cattle-breeding equivalent of a super-stud champion racehorse.
But if Vexour Garth saw red and came charging towards you across a field, you’d be praying he didn’t share the blistering pace of racehorse Frankel.
The muscular one tonne giant is a menacing 1.8m (6ft) tall and 3m (10ft) long – and farmers across the world are clamouring to buy straws of his semen at £100 a pop.
When the first 2,000 straws became available, they were snapped up in less than 36 hours. And over the three-year-old’s lifetime, it’s estimated he’ll rake in more than £2.2million. Ray Firminger, who looks after the bulky beast at Vexour Farm, near Chiddingstone, Kent, said: ‘He is the result of genetics and luck.
‘Give him a few years and you could be able to compare him with Frankel.’
The bull, cared for by Mr Firmingham on behalf of a US owner, is among the largest of his Charolais breed – but his lean build has also helped to impress buyers.
They think he’ll father good milking cows, with plenty of lean meat and little waste.
